The painting Portrait of Eduard Wallis – 1653

The painting shows the portrait of the rich fabric merchant Eduard Wallis (1621-1684). Edward sits in a black cloth suit on a red chair with his hat in his hand and looks to the right.
This painting is the counterpart of the portrait of Maria van Strijp, his wife since April 9 1647, and was commissioned by the couple. Johannes also painted a portrait of the mother of Maria van Strijp, Adriana Croes.
